about
North Wales native Sasha became one of the world's most renowned and popular DJs, known for populist fusions of house, techno, and trance. Starting out in the late '80s as a club DJ, the former Alexander Coe got his first big break when he was hired by the dance club Shelly's to spin and rework popular sounds of the day. It was there that the young DJ found fame with the dance and house crowd, but it wasn't until he started laying down his grooves at the Haçienda and Renaissance that he become known nationally and, eventually, globally. ~ AllMusic

  • Eats Everything

Bristol, England DJ and producer Eats Everything started out spinning jungle and drum'n'bass. Over the years, the man born Daniel Pearce incorporated more bass-loaded house into his repertoire, crafting a party-starting sound the likes of Carl Cox. His non-stop party started in 2011 with his debut track, "Entrance Song" (Pets Records), a heartier and richer version of Disclosure's deep house. The Eats Everything EP followed on Dirtybird, and Pearce, preferring performing over studio time, continued with a series of consistent releases over the following years. A slew of honors helped move along his exposure, notably a few essential mixes for Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 show, as well as the DJ Mag award for Best British DJ in 2012. In addition to filling dancefloors, he also left his mark on works by Adam F, Jamie Jones, X-Press 2, Four Tet, Skream, Sinead Harnett, and Disclosure. ~ AllMusic

  • Sam Divine

A born entertainer with a burning desire to play music to people around the world, Sam Divine’s enigmatic sets are an effortless schooling in pure, unadulterated house. From her early days as the sole member of the Defected street team in Ibiza to fronting their radio show and now headlining some of the world’s biggest clubs and festivals, The First Lady of Defected, has become an intrinsic part of the UK house music scene. The seeds of Sam’s DJ career can be traced back to a pair of belt drive turntables and a battered Numark mixer set up in her Mum’s shed; a pirate radio show broadcast from her bedroom using ‘borrowed’ equipment from the local college and MSN Messenger, and time spent expanding her musical knowledge working at Spin Central in her hometown of Weston-super-Mare and Chemical Records in Bristol. ~ Soundcloud

  • Aldrin

Voted “Best Local DJ” in both Juice & I-S Magazines in Singapore; nominated as “Best New Comer” for the Ibiza DJ Awards while UK's Dance Magazine Muzik referred him as Asia’s Number One DJ, Aldrin has been a key figure in building up Singapore's vibrant dance scene since the turn of the millennium, championing his genre-bending sets through his signature 'ONE with Aldrin' nights at the legendary Zouk Club in Singapore, and guest spots all over the globe, including clubbing capitals like Ibiza, Berlin, London, New York and Tokyo. Aldrin's remix of "Love In New Wave" by Singapore rock band Electrico received massive airplay by Pete Tong on his BBC Radio One show. A 2-hour set on BBC's Essential Mix, making Aldrin the only South East Asian to be on the show, plus Superstar DJs Danny Tenaglia and Marco Bailey both singling him out in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll as a DJ to watch, have only underscored Aldrin's position as an international DJ/Producer that Asia can call their very own. Not one to rest on his laurels, Aldrin has dabbled in several other projects, performing a 2- night sold-out concert with local classical heroes T'ang Quartet. Aldrin was also commissioned as Music Arranger for Singapore's National Day Parade (NDP2013); mixed music for local musical Detention Katong; and was the Artistic Director for One More Time, a massive production in 2017 that saw Aldrin curate the music, and perform live alongside a 50-piece orchestra, paying tribute to 25 years of dance music history. On the corporate front, Aldrin versatility as a quality music selector has also made him the choice DJ for several luxury brands, playing exclusive parties in Singapore and around Asia for the likes of Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Franck Muller, Christie's, Chopard, Kering and HBO. Yet not forgetting his club roots, Aldrin continues to maintain his presence in the global dance scene pushing a House and Techno soundtrack at local hotspots Kilo Lounge, Tuff Club, and Marquee, plus gigs at some of the trendiest “underground” venues this side of the globe, including Jenja (Bali); Jiro (Kuala Lumpur); Electric Circus (Shanghai); Window (Guangzhou); Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan); Besitval (Bali); and Wonderfruit (Pattaya). Concurrently, Aldrin is also championing a Nu Disco/ Indie Dance soundtrack, via his Singapore Island Culture Club parties & DJ sets at intimate venues in Singapore and around the region.

  • ÂME

Two friends meet outside Karlsruhe, in Schwarzwald. One is an explorer of galaxies far away, the other a composer of fragments. Together they create a joie de vivre, arranging and deconstructing their creations, their own formations. Beneath their feet, a stone world rests against the living world, touching rivers, mountains, forest floors and the first foot trails between Schwarzwald, Vosges Mountains and Naturpark Pfälzerwald. This stone world is made of smooth subterranean rock that swirls and folds. Altered from its original igneous by pressures a hundred thousand years strong. What was once sharp is now smooth. Lines become curves, reversals. If you were to try read its origin, its strata, you would not tell which direction the past flowed or the future began.

  • EELKE KLEIJN

Eelke’s life has always been intrigued by modern technology. Being fascinated by everything related to science fiction and technological developments, his interests are anything but your usual cup of tea. He is currently getting a degree in biological psychology at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. At home, his TV is tuned into Discovery Channel frequently. A real “Trekkie” perhaps as well, as he is a big fan of Star Trek. It is no surprise that Eelke enjoys watching the sky, not just on a warm summer day, but preferably at night, when he can aim his telescope at the stars and planets. It is not as severe as it sounds though, as he loves spending his free time playing video games and watching South Park. His biggest passion however is, without a doubt, music.,The world of music today is closely related to technology, something Eelke discovered at a young age. Therefore it is not strange at all that he got involved in it. “I could have easily ended up with an ICT related job”, he adds. Over the years Eelke has built and repaired a fair share of computers and also designed a variety of websites, including his own. At age 14, he got his first job working as a website designer for a music store. It gave him the opportunity to explore the studio equipment they sold in much detail, bringing home every piece of hardware he could get his hands on during the weekends.,In 2003 Eelke released his first single “4.5 Billion Years”, interestingly named after our planet’s currently estimated age, on Segment Records. This very limited 12 inch drew the attention of John Digweed and Seb Fontaine and is still held in high regard up to this day. It opened the door to labels such as Lost Language and Plastik Park. It was not until early 2006 however, that Eelke would indefinitely make an impact on the dance scene. Many months spent in the studio resulted in a series of releases, the most noticeable probably being “8 Bit Era / Import Bride” on Baroque Records which was very well received and got included on Nick Warren’s “Global Underground 030: Paris” compilation. “8 Bit Era” also received solid airtime on Dutch National radio. Ever since, many labels have taken notice of the sympathetic Dutchman, resulting in remixes for the likes of Jeff Bennett, Madoka and Snake Sedrick. In early 2007 his remix for Kosmas Epsilon’s “Paranoid” was picked up by Hernan Cattaneo for his Renaissance compilation "Sequential 2’.,It is difficult to describe Eelke’s sound in a few words though. “I am easily bored with music, I don’t like recycling sounds and ideas all the time”, he explains. His almost trancy cooperations with fellow Dutchman C-Jay indeed are very different from the dark and twisted grooves he has produced with Nick Hogendoorn and again different from the ambient and chilled-out songs he has written himself. “As with my DJ sets, I need variety in order to remain interested in what I’m doing. Producing different styles is almost like a way to express the different moods I’m in”. The recent signing of “Walkabout” on Ork Recordings with Nick is a perfect example, receiving critical acclaim from artists as diverse as Fish Go Deep, Nic Fanciulli and Anthony Pappa. Outside the Box Music, Eelke’s label launched in 2006 and part of the Groovecollection Music Management, reflects his taste in music like nothing else, with releases varying from techno-edged minimal to funky progressive house.,Spring 2007 saw Eelke taking the next leap towards fulfilling his dreams. Months of labour finally paid off when his debut artist album ‘Naturally Artificial’ was snapped up by Global Underground. It did not take the guys at GU long to see its potential. “Needless to say I am extremely happy about it!”, he adds. “Global Underground is one of the labels that have been around since the beginning, you don’t get a chance like this every day”.,So what else is there for Eelke you ask? We almost forgot to mention he is an excellent DJ as well, having played gigs in many European countries as well as Lebanon and Jordan. His monthly 2-hour radio show “Outside the Box”, broadcasted on Frisky Radio and Proton Radio, gives him the opportunity to showcase his sound worldwide. “What I love about Outside the Box is that I can do whatever I want”, he says. “It is almost like trying to educate people with different sounds, I can play deeper than at an average club night”.,Meanwhile Eelke has continued his work in the studio, a variety of news tracks and remixes are due throughout 2007. Success doesn’t come overnight, something we all know and this has also been the case with Eelke. Rest assured, though, that this is probably not the last we will hear from Mr. Kleijn.,Last Edited: June 2007,Biography additions made by: Peter van Hal (Deep Records / Deep Focus)

As DJ, producer and label head his take on techno resonates by combining the contemporary with hand-picked tracks from the history of rave culture. Héctor Oaks has been behind the turntables for almost half of his life. Gaining his first credits in Madrid's underground, it was when he relocated to Berlin, that his DJing really took off. Not long after his move to the German capital, the trained sound engineer released his first vinyl releases on KEY VINYL. This kick-start into the fertile soils of Berlin’s underground lay the foundation of a career, that has taken off internationally in the past years. It’s the dancefloors that taught this DJ his outstanding empathy and intuition for the sounds, that make a crowd vibrate. Constant practice and the dedication to music shaped his style. Known for his stamina and mixing skills, it is his selection that truly stands out. What seems eclectic on the first sight, is a well-curated mix of vinyl gems. Héctor Oaks seeks for the sweet spot between tracks that are connected not by genre but vibe and style. As vinyl-only DJ, his selection thrives on Oaks’ passion for digging in record shops all around the world. Not to mention the years in Berlin ́s infamous Record Loft, that served the local scene with an outstandingly broad selection of 2nd hand vinyl. When in the mood for a proper rave, you will find Oaks playing under his alias Cadency. The moniker is home to the more explorative side of genres: breaks, ghetto, oomphy grooves and a pinch of funk. As Oaks’s calls it: techno body music gone pop. Cadency’s appearances are rare, so catch them while they’re hot.

  • RIVA STARR

Just when you think you know Riva Starr… He’ll probably confuse you with yet another side to his musical personality. Don’t call him fickle, though. Try bored. Try excitable. Try unpredictable… And then some!,As Philippe Stark once famously said “I do not try to please everybody, I make what I can, how I can, when I can. […] I try to deserve to exist by doing my job well. I have this sickness called creativity and I exploit this sickness to offer new meaning in things to my friends. That’s it, very simple”,Riva humbly subscribes….,Driven from his Italian motherland by a compelling desire to reinvent, innovate (?) and progress (!), Riva has made London his home since 2008: A breath of freedom and fresh beats that allowed to him to wear his inspirations proudly beyond the sleeve and deep, deep, deep into the groove.,A Neapolitan cultural exile with a degree in Chinese literature; a passionate family guy who still manages to juggle a DJ schedule of over 200 international gigs a year, a label and production duties. How can you pigeonhole a man who never sits still?,From the dolce vita to Dalston, the Big Smoke’s open eared community and exciting cauldron of influences finally allowed him to truly make the records he wanted to make. In the past he’d produced house, techno, breakbeat, electro, pop, folk and everything in between. Here was the city where he could bring them together.,As the very name of his own label Snatch suggests, Riva’s unpredictable “Magic Hat” selection keeps both him and us listeners on our toes. It’s kept him relevant, but more importantly, it’s kept him alive and kicking…,To Riva, though, he’s just doing his job, hoping to pick up new friends along the way.,It’s been like this from the very first releases. Having taken his previous guises as far as he could, his infamous debuts on Made To Play and DirtyBird were the result of anonymous MySpace demo entries. Refusing to rely on any kudos he’d developed before, Riva took a brave dive into a whole new world of beats and let the music speak for itself.,Since then he’s strutted with acts as varied as Noze and Balkan Beat Box, remixed Dennis Ferrer, Usher, Gossip and Estelle (to name a few) while future fix-ups include Fatboy Slim and Beardyman.,Never forgetting his roots, Riva records range with the wily eclecticism of all the ages; he strikes chords we can all relate to: from the DJs that have appreciated his work (from Tiesto to A Trak, Jesse Rose to Annie Mac and Giles Peterson to David Rodigan) to you, me and everyone in between.,Throughout this mayhem, he’s been hard at work on the DJ circuit – with over 190 gigs in 2010 alone – strutting his stuff in some of the coolest venues on the planet such as Panorama Bar, Space, Womb and Fabric as well as some of the biggest festivals in the world from Fuji Rock to Global Gathering to Exit and beyond.,But enough of the past: second album “Freak Like Me” (tbc) takes off where If Live Gives You Lemons left us. A vibrant manifesto of enthusiastic eclecticism, it promises to be fun, futurebound and full of surprises.,Backing up Data Transmission’s recent description of him being “one of house music’s brightest, chirpiest and talented DJs and producers”, it’s loaded with electrifying new ideas, fresh experiments and unexpected collaborations. Each one a reminder of Riva’s consistent curiosity and unpredictable style.,So you think you know Riva Starr? Just wait and see….

  • Skream

London-based producer/DJ Skream (Ollie Jones) played a vital role in the development and popularity of dubstep during the 2000s. Following early collaborations with fellow genre pioneers Benga and Loefah, he released one of dubstep's most easily recognizable tracks, "Midnight Request Line," in 2005. His tracks and remixes helped shift the genre from being a darker, more minimalist form of club music to something more melodic and accessible, paving the way for its mainstream popularity by the beginning of the 2010s. Skream's biggest commercial success was his involvement as part of dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man (with Benga and Artwork), whose self-titled debut album reached number one on the U.K. dance chart. However, while primarily associated with dubstep, Skream has never limited himself to one genre, and much of his work since the mid-2010s has explored house and techno. ~ AllMusic

  • Toman

Now based in Amsterdam, he moved to the Dutch capital in early 2018 — and has barely had time to pause for breath since. A producer who boasts an impressively prolific streak, Toman started his musical journey at an early age. More recently, his unique take on house and techno has led him to much-renowned outlets such as We R House, Cyclic, META, No Art, PIV, Blind Vision and Inermu, yet Toman’s story is no overnight success. On the contrary, his is one that that’s as attributable to a ceaseless work ethic as it is a music-loving upbringing and an unyielding appreciation of sound. Fascinated by all things percussion, Toman began learning the drums in his early teens, a move that would eventually steer him toward what he considers the “unrestrictive complexities of electronic music”. A producer with an endlessly eclectic palette, Toman cites the likes of Underworld, Minilogue, and Terry Lee Brown Jr as influences, all of whom attest in some way to his own eclectic palette. From minimal to tech-house...
