Artlake Festival was born out of the conviction that the unifying potential of arts and music can contribute to a healthy foundation for an open and tolerant society and a more aware approach to the essential issues of the future.
For us, festivals are places of new encounters, challenges and irritations. The aim is to celebrate the community and at the same time use this space of exuberance and peaceful coexistence to critically reflect on existing relationships and values, to explore alternative perspectives and to experiment with one's own creativity. A place to let go, to think, to re-negotiate.
After we discussed at the last Artlake Festival how a solidaric future could look like our focus for 2021 is to ACT WOW!
We have to take radical steps to receive a significant transformation of our future. We all have to be role models and act as a collective society. We must become aware of our responsibility, that we must pave the way to a livable world. So let’s come together to develop strategies under this topic within the different dimensions, disciplines and formats. Let us make a change in our behavior and discuss how to act now and at the same time act wow.
In this year we will continue our format LABS*:
spaces for experiments and questions — each curated around certain contemporary issues through a wide range of artists, collectives, activists and initiatives. The different topics will be explored at the crossing of visual and performing arts, literature, film, discourse and workshops.
