BRENDA
Brenda began DJing in 2013 and has quickly risen to become one of Chicago’s techno talents. She is lead A&R for Format Recordings, resident DJ and co-producer of their weekly techno podcast series, Format.FM, and joint curator of the Format underground warehouse event series. A classically trained pianist and saxophonist, her expansive understanding of structure and rhythm allows her to draw inspiration from all kinds of music, from soulful jazz to dark, gritty drum and bass. Brenda’s talent for laying down everything from pulsing ethereal beats to jackin’ stompers demonstrate her versatility and while maintaining consistent themes of darker, harder techno.

Formerly known as Milkplant, JX-216 is a new alias developed by San Francisco Techno DJ/Producer, Justin Pennell over the last several years. Schooled in the Midwest and developed on the West Coast, his work encompasses over 30 years of combined DJ/production experience, and 10 years of record label operations. In 2008 he began the internationally recognized label, From 0-1 with fellow artist Sone.
