In its five years of existence, Saffron has built a reputation as one of the leading music tech development platforms for womxn in the UK and beyond. Hundreds of womxn globally have engaged on our courses and workshops and many go on to study music tech full-time, release their own music, perform at festivals and get radio residencies with world-class institutions. A key aspect of our work is nurturing the ever-growing community of womxn interested in music tech, especially those who may not have had access to it if it weren’t for the infrastructure and accessibility that we provide.
Saffron is embedded in the music industry, working with a diverse array of mentors, tutors and project managers. Our staff have decades of experience in both the professional music industry and in community building. Renowned musical figureheads, artists, broadcasters and sound engineers have guest-hosted workshops with Saffron, including the likes of Jamz Supernova, Lady Leshurr, Hannah Peel and Marta Salogni.
Saffron has delivered stand-alone and long-term projects in the UK with the Arts Council, The Prince’s Trust and in partnership with the PRS Foundation as one of their Talent Development partners. We have also presented multi-day music tech programs as far afield as Moscow and Azerbaijan on behalf of the British Council. Other brand supporters and partners on our mission include Spitfire Audio, Ableton, Moog, Red Bull Music, Team Love and DBS Music.
Saffron has received attention in the press in the form of interviews, videos and profiles in the Guardian, Pro Sound News, Music Tech mag, Bustle, Mixmag and Boiler Room.

  • Terraforming is the theoretical process in which life on a planet becomes possible through the creation of an atmosphere. Terraforma is the manifest of our belief that new dimensions can now be terraformed. A three days festival where music is the catalyst: a timeless centre of gravity for energies, with a breaking point from which sounds and images create a sense of suspension capable of pointing us towards new perceptions. Terraforma innovates the concept of musical experience by emphasizing the relationship between event and impact, incubating moods and forms of sensibility durable in time. We want to breed a new concept of listening, to encompass everything that music expresses and reveals; let it be inside, around or outside us, our society and the world. Terraforma takes place in the woods of Villa Arconati just outside Milan and involves artists who experiment new ways to reduce the distance between art and life. Music and its listening take man back to his natural frequencies where sense of rhythm is once again bound with the environment. Terraforma is organized according to sustainable practices, integrating aspects from production to consumption of resources. An organic structure where the musical aspect is integrated with installations crafted by artists and artisans, and where gatherings and workshops will provide opportunities for meditation, actively involving the public. The interlace of musical, artistic and environmental dimensions will form an atmosphere capable of stimulating the listener’s sensibility to think about the present and the future in a new way, a cultural innovation sprouting from respect of the other and of the environment. SUSTAINABILITY MODEL Terraforma is working to overcome the typical organizational methods used for events by changing it’s approach from planning to practicing innovative management, to reduce and optimize the use of resources. The aim is to create a shared vision between all of the festivals stake-holders and create a positive impact on the territory. The method will integrate multiple variables, based on the sustainability mantra in all of it’s forms. By measuring the influx and outflow of the Terraforma ecosystem, guaranteeing its results through accredited eco-sustainability certifications, knitting a network of partners and stake-holders that integrate new technologies with traditional methodologies. These are examples of the variables and micro-objectives inserted in the planning process. To re- generate our ecosystem we will need to develop qualities essential to the transformation of our own selves. To reduce the waste of resources, it is essential that we re-evaluate our true needs. Conceived and produced by Threes.
