Clockenflap 2018: A Quick Preview

Clockenflap, the Coachella of the Orient, mashup of music and art, where all the festival lovers, fashionista and hippies in Hong Kong come together and enjoy a weekend of amazing feast to your full sensory. This is the 11th edition of the biggest music festival in Hong Kong, which will take place from November 9-11 at the view-stunning Central Harbourfront Event Space.

For the 2018 edition, Clockenflap is bringing in more than 100 top international, regional and local acts to the stages, with 29 of them making their debut in Hong Kong. On top of the mighty main Habourflap Stage with the highest profile artists, there will be 5 other stages alongside to cater musics of a variety of genre, such as the FWD StageYourMum Stage by Red Bull and Silent Disco powered by FWD MAX for Indie and electronic music, as well as Acorn / Robot Stage for family-oriented programs and Club MAX by FWD for offbeat cabaret style performances.

 

Electronic Music Acts

Clockenflap headlining Electronic music artists includes Australian electro-house outfit Peking Duk, American EDM DJ Mija, UK Industrial Techno Trailblazer BLAWAN, Influential Drum & Bass Pioneer RONI SIZE, French Electronic Artists RONE, Australian house DJ/producer Nina Las Vegas, Trainspotting DJ Irvine Welsh, and Canadian electronic duo Blue Hawaii.

 

Silent Disco powered by FWD MAX

Silent Disco program included Japanese award-winning magician TANBA, Circus and Physical Theatre ABLE MABLE, contemporary choreographer Shing Mak’S B Boy Battle, Didier Theron’s AIR performance, Veniamin’s Human Slinky, UK Comedy Mime Artist LES BUBB, Taiwanese contemporary circus troupe FOCA, as well as Yoga workshop with Chau Kei Ngai.

 

Clockenflap is more than music, it is also about the festival experience and enhancement where Clockenflapper can access fully on the festival ground with the other sensors. With a number of Instagram-friendly attractions and art installation, the festival is also introducing new interactive programs and lively family-oriented entertainment to the 2018 edition.

 
Performing Arts

Performing Arts program included Balloon Chain, Inflatable Garden, Spikey, Lotus Temple, BE•A•RING, The Nose Knows, Reverscope, Tentacles, The Eye, Birdmen and Pinky Disco, Acoustic Light, Peri-periscope, #TakeTheStage by Cathay Pacific, Gong Meditation and Videotage.

 
Fashion

Other festival experience enhancement merch store included Jipola’s special range of floral statement pieces for Clockenflappers, Facesss beYOUty Station’s free touch-ups, Levi’s® Tailor Shop’s customised hot stamping badges service, Give Kiehl’s Give Joy campaign, Fred Perry serves up ping pong game, as well as MILK MART’s high-quality craft market.

 
Food

Food arrangement for Clockenflap included Food Bazaar with over 20 handpicked suppliers of International Gourmets, OKRA’s new project Sausage Commitment, Red Bull Bar, HK Yau Craft Beer as well as PayMe Cha Chaan Teng.

 
Family-Oriented Entertainment

Family-oriented programs included The Noname Family Circus presents Danny Danger In The Danny Danger Dangerous Danger(sic)Show, Ferdinand’s close-up magic, DJ Archie’s bouncing basslines, as well as The Children’s Discovery Museum’s creative art and music workshops.
