about
Born in the West African State of Cameroon, Surge grew up listening to the melodic sounds of Makosssa, Samba, Afro Jazz, Afro Zouk amongst numerous other genres the continent had to offer. He was mostly influenced by artists across the continent especially legends like Fela Kuti, Manu Dibango, Salif Keita, Richard Bona, Brenda Fassie...; Ah Brenda Fassie and those drums from South Africa. His love for Afro House was definitely born around her 97' album, "Memeza".

At his early stages as a House DJ, he constantly looked for a blend between popular European dance music and Tribal House music, and so a Tech House DJ was born at Bassment (Insenses). There, he worked with Destroyed HK and together with founder, Dustin Kun, hosted the Makin' Bacon' series that lasted over 3 years. This was the platform on which he really fine tuned his style, a perfect balance of underground Afro House and Tech House music. Later moving on to be resident at the former Makumba Lounge, he kept the crowds engaged with the sounds of LIVE beating drums culminated with melodic tribal vocals, all to provide that genuine, pure and unadulterated Afro House experience.
